1. Compliance with Institutional Rules and Regulations

All students shall comply with the policies, rules, regulations, procedures, notices, codes, and lawful directions issued by Buraq Institute of Science and Technology, PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR), and other competent regulatory or accrediting authorities, such as HEC, NBEAC and NCEAC, as applicable. Students shall remain responsible for familiarizing themselves with the regulations applicable to their academic programs and shall comply with any amendments or revisions introduced from time to time.

2. Respectful and Responsible Conduct

Students shall conduct themselves with dignity, courtesy, respect, and professionalism toward faculty members, administrative staff, fellow students, visitors, and other members of the Institution. Students shall not engage in harassment, intimidation, bullying, threatening behaviors, discrimination, abuse, or any other conduct that adversely affects the dignity, safety, rights, or well-being of another person.

3. Academic Integrity

Students shall maintain the highest standards of academic honesty and integrity. Any form of academic dishonesty, including plagiarism, cheating, impersonation, fabrication or falsification of academic information, unauthorized collaboration, use of prohibited materials or electronic devices during examinations, or submission of work prepared by another person, shall constitute a violation of this Code. Academic misconduct shall be dealt with in accordance with the applicable academic and disciplinary regulations of the Institution and the affiliating university.

4. Attendance and Academic Responsibilities

Students shall attend lectures, practical sessions, laboratories, examinations, seminars, tutorials, and other academic activities as prescribed by their respective programs. Students shall comply with the attendance requirements and academic deadlines established by the Institution and the relevant academic authority. Failure to meet prescribed academic or attendance requirements may result in academic penalties or other action in accordance with applicable regulations.

5. Examination and Assessment Conduct

Students shall strictly comply with all examination and assessment rules. No student shall engage in cheating, impersonation, possession or use of unauthorized materials, communication with other candidates, or any other activity intended to obtain an unfair academic advantage. Any violation of examination rules shall be subject to the applicable examination and disciplinary regulations of the Institution and PMAS-AAUR.

6. Prohibited Behavior

Students shall not engage in conduct that threatens the safety, security, discipline, reputation, or orderly functioning of the Institution. Prohibited conduct includes, but is not limited to:

1. Physical violence, assault, threats, or intimidation.
2. Bullying, harassment, stalking, or abusive behaviors.
3. Discrimination or hate-based conduct.
4. Possession or use of illegal drugs or other prohibited substances.
5. Possession of unauthorized weapons or dangerous articles on institutional premises.
6. Theft, fraud, vandalism, or deliberate damage to institutional or personal property. Misuse of institutional facilities, equipment, information systems, or resources.
7. Forgery, falsification, or unauthorized alteration of institutional documents or records.
8. Unauthorized access to computer systems, networks, accounts, or digital resources.
9. Any other conduct prohibited under applicable law or institutional regulations.

7. Dress, Decorum and Professional Behaviors Students shall maintain appropriate standards of dress, personal appearance, language, and behaviors consistent with the academic and professional environment of the Institution. Students shall observe proper decorum within classrooms, laboratories, libraries, offices, examination halls, events, and other institutional premises. 8. Protection of Institutional Property Students shall exercise reasonable care in the use of institutional buildings, classrooms, laboratories, libraries, furniture, equipment, information technology resources, and other property. Any student who intentionally or negligently causes damage to institutional property may be required to compensate the Institution for the resulting loss, in addition to any disciplinary action that may be imposed under applicable regulations.

9. Use of Information Technology and Digital Platforms

Students shall use institutional computers, networks, internet services, learning management systems, email accounts, and other digital resources responsibly and lawfully. Unauthorized access, cyber abuse, dissemination of malicious content, impersonation, misuse of institutional accounts, unauthorized recording or distribution of academic activities, and publication of content that unlawfully harms or misrepresents members of the Institution may constitute misconduct. Students shall also use social media and other digital platforms responsibly when their conduct is connected with the Institution or materially affects the safety, rights, or legitimate interests of members of the institutional community.

10. Official Communication and Representation

Students shall use respectful and appropriate language in all official communications with the Institution, its faculty, administration, and fellow students. No student shall represent themselves as an authorized spokesperson, officer, representative, or official of Buraq Institute of Science and Technology or PMAS-AAUR without prior authorization from the competent authority.

11. Student Organizations and Activities

Student societies, clubs, associations, events, campaigns, and other extracurricular activities shall operate in accordance with the policies and procedures approved by the Institution. Students participating in such activities shall comply with applicable institutional regulations and shall not organize or participate in activities that threaten public safety, institutional discipline, academic integrity, or the reputation of the Institution.

12. Prohibition of Unauthorized Collection and Solicitation

No student shall collect money, donations, subscriptions, or other contributions from students, staff, or external persons on behalf of the Institution or any student organization without prior written authorization from the competent institutional authority.

13. Confidentiality and Privacy

Students shall respect the privacy and confidentiality of personal, academic, administrative, financial, and institutional information. Unauthorized disclosure, publication, recording, distribution, or misuse of confidential information, personal data, examination materials, institutional records, or private communications may constitute misconduct and may be subject to disciplinary action and applicable law.

14. False Information and Misrepresentation

Students shall provide accurate and truthful information to the Institution at the time of admission and throughout their enrolment. Submission of forged, fraudulent, altered, misleading, or otherwise invalid documents or information, or deliberate concealment of material information, may result in cancellation of admission, withdrawal of academic privileges, disciplinary action, or other measures in accordance with applicable regulations.

15. Disciplinary Proceedings

Where a student is alleged to have violated this Code or any applicable institutional regulation, the Institution may initiate disciplinary proceedings in accordance with its prescribed procedures. The student shall be informed of the allegation and shall be provided an appropriate opportunity to respond or present their position before a disciplinary decision is made, subject to the applicable rules and nature of the matter.

16. Disciplinary Measures

Where a violation is established, the competent authority may impose one or more disciplinary measures proportionate to the nature and severity of the violation, including:

1. Written warning or reprimand;
2. Probation or disciplinary undertaking;
3. Academic or administrative penalties, where permitted;
4. Suspension of specified institutional privileges;
5. Recovery of financial loss or damage;
6. Suspension from the Institution for a prescribed period;
7. Cancellation or termination of admission/enrolment; or
8. Any other lawful disciplinary measure prescribed by the Institution or competent authority.

The nature of the disciplinary action shall depend upon the circumstances, seriousness, frequency, and consequences of the violation.

17. Serious Misconduct

Conduct involving violence, serious harassment, sexual misconduct, serious academic fraud, possession or use of prohibited substances, unauthorized possession of weapons, significant property damage, serious cyber misconduct, or any conduct that may constitute an offence under applicable law shall be treated as serious misconduct. The Institution may take immediate protective or administrative measures where necessary and may refer matters to the relevant competent authorities where required by law.

18. Responsibility for Compliance

Ignorance of the Student Code of Conduct or other institutional regulations shall not ordinarily constitute a defense against a violation. Students are responsible for familiarizing themselves with the policies and regulations applicable to them throughout their period of enrolment.

19. Amendments and Interpretation

Buraq Institute of Science and Technology reserves the right to amend, revise, supplement, or replace this Code from time to time in accordance with applicable laws, institutional requirements, affiliation conditions, and directives of competent authorities. In the event of any inconsistency between this Code and a binding regulation, policy, or directive of PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, a competent regulatory authority, or applicable law, the latter shall prevail to the extent of such inconsistency.

20. Student Acknowledgement

By accepting admission and continuing enrolment at Buraq Institute of Science and Technology, every student shall be deemed to acknowledge their responsibility to comply with this Student Code of Conduct and all other applicable institutional and regulatory requirements. Violation of this Code may result in disciplinary action in accordance with the prescribed procedures and applicable rules and regulations.
