Admission Policy
Purpose
This policy upholds the vision and mission of Buraq Institute of Science & Technology to ensure academic excellence and encourage an atmosphere of diversity and belonging for all the students getting admitted to the Institution. It depicts the Institution’s commitment to equality in education and will lead to efficient management of all student admissions by exercising transparency and fairness for all the applicants and alignment with the admission policy of PMAS-AAU Rawalpindi. The institution intends to provide learning opportunities to attract the best students, irrespective of their background, and prepare them to be confident citizens and potential leaders in an increasingly globalized work environment.
Scope
This policy is applicable to all the undergraduate level programs offered by Buraq Institute of Science & Technology, affiliated with PMAS Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi.
Policy Statements
1. Equal Opportunity and Non-Discrimination
Buraq Institute of Science & Technology is committed to providing equal educational opportunities to all academically qualified applicants. Admission shall be open, without unlawful discrimination, to eligible persons irrespective of gender, religion, caste, creed, race, color, socioeconomic status, domicile, or any other legally protected characteristic, subject to the applicable eligibility criteria and admission requirements of the relevant academic program. No otherwise eligible applicant shall be denied admission solely on the basis of any of the foregoing characteristics.
2. Fair and Transparent Admission Process
Admission to the academic programs of the Institution shall be conducted through a fair, consistent, merit-based, and transparent selection process. All applications shall be assessed in accordance with the prescribed admission criteria and procedures applicable to the relevant program.
3. Admission Criteria and Regulatory Requirements
The eligibility and admission requirements for each academic program shall be determined in accordance with the applicable policies, regulations, and criteria prescribed by PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) and, where applicable, the requirements of the relevant statutory, regulatory, and professional accreditation bodies, including NBEAC, NCEAC, and other competent authorities. Admission decisions shall be made by the duly constituted and authorized authorities or committees of the Institution (Admission Committee) in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations.
4. Age Requirement
The maximum age limit for admission to BS programs shall be governed by the prevailing rules and regulations of PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR). Where applicable, the maximum permissible age shall be 25 years, subject to any exemptions, relaxations, or amendments approved by the competent authority (VC of PMAS-AAUR).
5. Minimum Academic Qualification
The minimum academic qualification and percentage/marks required for admission to undergraduate programs shall be determined in accordance with the prevailing eligibility criteria prescribed by PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) and other applicable regulatory or accrediting authorities.
6. Fee Refund Policy
Following confirmation of admission, the admission fee shall be non-refundable. Where a refund of the semester fee is permissible within one month of admission, under the applicable rules, the refundable amount shall be subject to a 10% deduction in accordance with the Institution’s approved fee-refund policy and applicable regulatory requirements.
7. Responsibility to Remain Informed
Following admission, students shall be responsible for regularly reviewing official notices, institutional (Buraq Institute of Science & Technology) and university (PMAS-AAUR) emails, student portals, official social media channels, official websites, and other authorized means of communication. Students shall be deemed responsible for remaining informed of all academic, administrative, examination, financial, and other institutional matters communicated through official channels.
8. Provisional Admission of Result-Awaiting Students
Admission granted to applicants whose examination results are pending shall be considered provisional until the declaration and verification of their complete results. Such students shall be required to pass all outstanding subjects and satisfy the prescribed minimum academic percentage or other eligibility requirements applicable to the relevant program. Failure to pass any required subject or failure to meet the prescribed eligibility criteria shall result in cancellation of the provisional admission. In such circumstances, the admission fee shall be non-refundable. Where applicable, the semester fee shall be refunded after deduction of 10%, subject to the Institution’s approved fee-refund policy and applicable regulations.
9. Cancellation of Admission on Grounds of Misconduct
The Institution reserves the right to cancel or terminate a student’s admission where the student is found to have engaged in misconduct, submitted false or misleading information or documents, violated institutional policies or regulations, breached the applicable code of conduct, or otherwise committed an act or omission contrary to the rules and standards of the Institution (Buraq Institute of Science & Technology) and university (PMAS-AAUR) or the affiliating/regulatory authority. Any such action shall be taken in accordance with the applicable disciplinary procedures and the principles of due process.
10. Institutional Authority and Admission Decisions
The Institution reserves the right, subject to applicable laws, regulations, affiliation requirements, and the decisions of competent authorities, to refuse, suspend, or cancel admission where an applicant or student fails to satisfy the prescribed eligibility requirements, provides inaccurate or fraudulent information, or where admission is found to have been granted in error or in violation of applicable rules and regulations. Any exercise of such authority shall be subject to the applicable institutional policies and regulatory requirements.
11. Compliance with Institutional Policies and Regulations
All students shall be bound by and required to comply with the policies, rules, regulations, codes of conduct, academic requirements, administrative procedures, and other lawful directives of Buraq Institute of Science & Technology, PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, and other competent regulatory or accrediting authorities, as applicable. The Institution reserves the right to amend, revise, replace, or introduce policies, rules, regulations, procedures, and codes from time to time in accordance with applicable requirements. Students shall be responsible for complying with such amendments and shall remain subject to the policies and regulations in force during their period of enrolment.
Responsibilities
The Institution’s admission office in collaboration with the Institution authorities, campus director and head of departments is responsible for ensuring that policies and procedures regarding student selection and admissions are implemented with fairness and are aligned with the Institution’s strategic aims and objectives.
